July 2015 | Sites are surrounded by large trees, the ground is even and covered in small pebble grade. This made it easy to peg in our tent and the ground was not harsh on our feet. There are no showers and toilets are porta potties, which are kept very, very clean. Kevin, alias Papa Bear, was very helpful, even loaned us a cover for our picnic table to keep off the rain. Our boys enjoyed the trampoline and there is a HUGE sand pile with digging toys. There is also a little playground with a slide, a swing, a little playhouse and a tub of lego. Throughout the campsite are other games such as horse shoe throw, bean bag toss, etc. There is no beach to speak of, but a bench by the riverbank. There is a floating dock. We spent hours swimming in the river every day, and you can also tube down from a bridge to the dock which can take 1 - 3 hours depending on the river flow on the day. Papa Bear sells wood, or you can pick up your own...we bought a $12 tub and the boys enjoyed picking up from the fresh trails and at the end of 7 days we still had wood left over. There are trails to walk and new ones being made. Falcon in the air, beaver to be seen morning and evening, coyotes calling in the night, a crackling fire in your firepit and giant freezies to be bought from Papa Bear at a dollar each...what more can you ask for! Actually...a shower would be nice :) We will definitely enjoy this site again. |
